Design Process

the strategic framework that guides my design

I have decided to create this page to provide transparency and insight into my approach as a UX/UI designer.

A well-defined design process is fundamental to my designs. I deliver designs that look good and, more importantly, make users' lives easier and more enjoyable.

My focus is on understanding users deeply. From brainstorming ideas to crafting the final product, I prioritize user needs and feedback, creating resonating experiences.

A big idea behind my design process:

1. Discovery: defining clear project goals and understanding the target audience

  • Overview:
In this initial phase of my design process, the emphasis is on thorough exploration and comprehension. Through client meetings, user interviews, and a comprehensive analysis of project requirements, I aim to gain a deep understanding of the challenges and objectives at hand. I believe this sets the foundation for informed decision-making throughout the design journey, ensuring that every step that follows is aligned with the project's goals and user needs. The most important at this phase are user research and competitive analysis.

2. Research: understanding user needs, behaviors, and preferences.

  • Overview:
In the research phase, I'm going deeper into understanding user needs, behaviors, and preferences. Through research, I am creating in detail the user personas and journey mapping (user journey). These help me empathize with users, anticipate their expectations, and craft solutions that resonate with their experiences.

3. Ideation: generate ideas

  • Overview:
In the ideation phase, I generate ideas based on the insights gathered during the research phase.  I am using mind mapping to visualize connections and design sprints for rapid iteration. These methods stimulate inventive, creative thinking and also create the foundation for refining concepts that will ultimately shape the user experience.

4. Design: from concept to creation

  • Overview:
The design phase marks the transition from concept to creation. Based on the insights and creative ideas generated earlier, this stage involves the crafting of wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. These visual representations serve as blueprints. At this stage, every design decision has a deep thinking behind it, considering factors such as usability, accessibility, and overall user experience. This iterative approach ensures that the final design meets aesthetic standards and is also a strategic solution aligned with project goals and user needs.

5. Testing: validates the usability and effectiveness of the proposed solutions

  • Overview:
The testing phase is critical in the design process. It validates the usability and effectiveness of the proposed solutions. Usability testing and A/B testing, are conducted to evaluate the design's performance and gather valuable user feedback. This iterative process involves listening attentively to user perspectives and experiences, allowing their insights to guide refinements. Usability testing helps uncover potential pain points, while A/B testing allows for data-driven comparisons. Incorporating this feedback loop into the design process ensures that the final product is visually polished and also aligns with user expectations.

6. Implementation: handoff process

  • Overview:
The implementation phase marks the transition from design vision to digital reality. This is the phase where I am handing over the project to the developers. This phase ensures the integration of design elements into the final product. Insights into the handoff process, coupled with the utilization of collaboration tools, facilitate a smooth transfer of design assets.  This collaboration between design and development guarantees a cohesive and high-quality outcome.

7. Reflection: evaluation of successes, challenges, and, lessons learned

  • Overview:
Reflection is an integral part of the process, allowing for an honest evaluation of successes, challenges, and, most importantly, lessons learned. I recognize that each project contributes to an ongoing evolution of skills and approaches. This reflective practice informs future projects and also reinforces the commitment to growth and refinement.

And to conclude this, things switch up based on the project at hand.

It's like having a different recipe for each dish you cook (just because I love baking). First, I dig deep into what the project needs – like finding out who am I cooking for and what they like. Then, I brainstormed creative ideas, drawing a picture of what the final dish could look like.
Once I decide on the recipe, I start cooking – turning those ideas into something real. But, just like in cooking, I taste and adjust along the way. Testing is like checking if the dish tastes just right, making sure everyone will enjoy it.

When it's time to serve, I work closely with the kitchen (developers) to make sure everything comes out perfectly. Finally, I sit down, have a taste, and think about how I can make the next dish even better.

It's an ever-changing process, like trying new recipes, where each project adds a little spice to the mix.
