As a designer, I am trying to optimize the project creation process, aiming to address a significant drop-off in completion rates at the initial project details stage.
Here's a peek into the user scenario and the problem I faced:
🔍 User Scenario:
When creators embark on launching a project on Kickstarter, they encounter a series of questions aimed at crafting their project's essence.
💡 Problem:
However, a troubling trend was noticed: many users abandon their projects at this crucial stage.
Why? Here are insights gathered from user feedback:
- uncertainty about how their project will appear to potential funders.
- desire for guidance on crafting compelling titles, descriptions, and images.
- concerns about the ability to edit project details later, leading to drop-off and abandonment.
🎯 The Challenge:
My mission? To revamp this experience, giving creators the confidence to kickstart their projects.
Here's how I approached the redesign:
✅ Introduced visual previews: creators now get a sneak peek at how their project will be showcased on the platform, empowering them to tailor their content effectively.
✅ Implemented guidance prompts: clear prompts and tips aid creators in crafting impactful titles, and descriptions, and selecting engaging images, ensuring a great first impression.
✅ Emphasized flexibility: highlighted the ease of editing project details post-submission
✅ Intentional with the steps are coming next

This design competition was a reminder of how important the user feedback is and how much information it can give us:
- Insight into user needs
- Validation of design decisions
- Identification of pain points
- Iterative improvement
- Building trust and loyalty
- Competitive advantage
